Thematic Mapping in the Internet: Exploring Census Data with Descartes

چکیده
Analysis of demographic information is impossible without thematic mapping. Last year significant efforts were involved into putting such data coupled with interactive mapping service into the Internet. For example, 220 demographic variables from 1990 US Census are available online with CIESIN Demographic Viewer. Similar projects are running in other countries. Thus, in the UK the results of 1991 Census are being made available to the academic community in the WWW.
